Are ketones safe for your kidneys? - Cliff Harvey

Q: Somebody also asked about the safety of ketones in your kidneys. Is it safe to take exogenous ketones for your kidneys?

A: Just as safe as being on a ketogenic diet which some might also say that it's not safe and that'd be wrong about it as well. The human body is built to go in and out of ketosis. It's what it does when it has to for any reason to go without food for some period of time or it's restricted in carbohydrate. And it's just not the unwanted survival state, it's a very normal and appropriate state for a human body to be in. And all about organs, they're basically built to handle that. Our kidneys are just fine with ketones.
